'U' President Finalist Faces Long Day Of Meetings

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The man with the inside track to be the next president of the University of Minnesota will be on campus Wednesday meeting with deans, regents and faculty members.

Provost Eric Kaler of Stony Brook University in New York will also attend a public forum at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Coffman Theater on the Minneapolis campus.

According to a schedule released by the university, Kaler will meet with deans over the lunch hour, then meet with top professors and then the Faculty Consultative Committee.

After the forum, he will go to a social dinner with the Board of Regents. On Thursday, he has meetings with top administrators and a student group.

He'll finish his two-day visit with a one-hour public interview with the Board of Regents starting at 11:45 a.m. at the McNamara Alumni Center.
