MOA Braces For Black Friday

By Kerry McNally, WCCO-TV

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — An army of 13,000 employees will be in position at the Mall of America Friday morning, braced for an invasion of Black Friday shoppers.

The mall is usually a busy place, but on Black Friday, it  gets crazy.

“Last year we had around 180,000 people,” Mall of America Police Capt. Will Bernhjelm said.

Bernhjelm and his team of 150 officers are expecting more people this year.

In preparation for the shopping invasion, many shops are offering big deals and free stuff to shoppers willing to shoulder their way to some savings.

Accompanying the rustle and shuffle of bags and feet, the Holiday Music Festival, which features professional musicians and schools groups, will run Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Best Buy Rotunda and the Sears Court.

The doors opens at 3 a.m.  Some retailers will open at 4 a.m. and all shops will be open by 6 a.m.
