Lake Mille Lacs Walleye Regulation Changes Wed.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- With the ice fishing season coming soon, fisheries officials are reminding anglers that the walleye regulation for Lake Mille Lacs will tighten up a bit Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says that effective Dec. 1, sport anglers on Mille Lacs can keep four walleye up to 18 inches. All walleye between 18-and 28-inches must be immediately released. The lower end of that protected slot had been 20 inches since mid-July.

As before, one walleye more than 28 inches is allowed in possession.

The DNR says ice is starting to form on Minnesota lakes, but it's not ready to support people or vehicles yet.
