Vikings Working On Plan For Publicly-Owned Stadium
ST. PAUL (CBS/AP) -- A Minnesota Vikings official says the team is looking at four potential sites for a publicly owned stadium in the Twin Cities.
Team vice president Lester Bagley says three of the sites are in Minneapolis and one is in a suburb. He would not specify the sites.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Bagley says the Vikings are doing "due diligence" on the sites. He says the Vikings hope to have a stadium plan to take to Minnesota lawmakers within 30 to 60 days.
"We're well positioned with the new legislature and new governor," Bagley told Newsradio 830 WCCO's Michele Tafoya Tuesday. "We're going to get it done in Minnesota."
The Vikings' Metrodome lease expires after the 2011 season. Bagley says the Vikings have received overtures from two groups trying to lure an NFL team to Los Angeles, but he says the team told each "we're focused on resolving the issue in Minnesota."
