Woman Hit By Wheel While Getting Mail
FAIRHAVEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) -- A woman suffered a leg injury after being hit by a runaway wheel while getting the mail Monday morning.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office reports that around 10:20 a.m. 53-year-old Jeanne Marie Mcguire was walking to her mailbox on County Road 7 when she was struck by a wheel.
Authorities said the wheel had broken off a tandem axle trailer from a vehicle traveling southbound on County Road 7.
The wheel hit McGuire in the lower leg, knocking her down. The wheel continued to roll another 100 yards before coming to rest in the ditch.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office identified that the trailer belonged to 24-year-old Mitchell Schindele of South Haven. He didn't notice that the tire had come off until he got home.
McGuire was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with a possible broken leg.
