COON RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) — A 28-year-old man has been arrested for an attempted armed robbery of an Aldi Foods and three other armed robberies in the last four weeks, according to police.
Officers say Peder Walter Bruvold, who currently does not have a permanent address, allegedly tried to rob the Aldi Foods on 8800 Springbrook Dr. in Coon Rapids.
An employee told police that as he arrived for work, he was approached by Bruvold who was wielding a knife and demanding money.
The employee did not comply with his demands, took off running and called 911. Bruvold took off running in the other direction, towards a nearby industrial park.
The employee gave police a description of Bruvold, who was spotted a short while later on foot, several blocks from the scene.
Bruvold admitted to the attempted robbery and told police he also committed three other armed robberies within the last four weeks — which had previously led police to issue a crime alert.
Bruvold is being held at the Anoka County Jail, pending criminal charges.
