Patrol Suspects Alcohol In Double-Fatal Crash

PIPESTONE, Minn. (WCCO) — Two people were killed in a crash in Pipestone County Tuesday night and a third was critically injured.

A car and a van crashed head-on at an intersection off Highway 23 just south of Holland Tuesday night.

According to the State Patrol, the car’s driver, 22-year-old Megan Stensgaard of Florence, and the van’s driver, 60-year-old Curtis Maxwell of Luverne, were killed. Fifty-two-year-old Sandra Maxwell was critically injured.

The State Patrol believes alcohol was a factor in the crash, reporting alcohol was detected in Stensgaard’s system.

well – at least , unlike the Strib columb, didn’t state there was also alcohol on the breath of the deceased – which was irrelevant as she wasn’t driving and was a passenger. I read that one and wanted to strangle the reporter. As if the family of the deceased is not in enough pain right now……
Drunk drivers – life for this. Caught driving drunk w/o an accident a year or more. I frankly DO NOT give a rats azz if it causes you/yours harm due to job loss, family issues, whatnot. You are a potential KILLER every time you turn the key. Rot in jail from the start and many, not all, will wake up.
