PIPESTONE, Minn. (WCCO) – Two people were killed in a crash in Pipestone County Tuesday night and a third was critically injured.

A car and a van crashed head-on at an intersection off Highway 23 just south of Holland Tuesday night.

According to the State Patrol, the car’s driver, 22-year-old Megan Stensgaard of Florence, and the van’s driver, 60-year-old Curtis Maxwell of Luverne, were killed. Fifty-two-year-old Sandra Maxwell was critically injured.

The State Patrol believes alcohol was a factor in the crash, reporting alcohol was detected in Stensgaard’s system.
