No Fish Caught At MN’s 2nd Largest Ice Fishing Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Thousands of anglers turned out for Minnesota’s second largest ice fishing tournament over the weekend, but apparently the fish didn’t get the memo.

Not one of the 2,200 anglers at the Alexandria Ice Fishing Challenge at Lake Agnes caught a fish.

The tournament awards cash prizes up to $10,000 for the biggest fish caught.

The DNR said the lake was well-stocked and there was plenty of oxygen in the water.

Officials think low barometric pressure and the warm temperatures kept the fish from biting.

Our lakes are overfished by special interests groups.

Al Gore said the fish didn’t bite because of global warming

  6. Doc says:

A really great example of stupidity by the sponsors. Of all the beautiful and well stocked lakes in the Alexandria Area, No One fishes on Lake Agnes.

I kept my 35.00 entry fee and went riding. Why you would even want to fish in that lake is beyond me. 30 years + in Alex and only seen 2 boats on it! Good for the downtown businesses hence the move but hopefully the planners learned their lesson…

  14. Rick says:

If only someone had remembered to bring an auger.

  15. Murph says:

2200 people and not ONE brought one fish in secretly? Boy, Minnesota nice must be limited to anglers.Obviously none were those political angle pushers you have in the legislature.Just because FOX fooled a lot of voters.Doesn’t mean that they can turn American workers into slave laborers! Don’t know what they put into the TEA.But it might be time to put some fish in Lake Agnes! Ya think?

  16. mikeyg says:

why do u think they picked that lake,…stupid !

  17. gtV says:

This proves fish can outsmart the fishing folks! Even high tech and super sharp jigs etcetera can’t catch a smart close-mouth over-fished fish! The fish get 2200 points to “O” for the contest anglers. Now that’s a believable fish story!

  18. In The Know says:

Many fish were caught in this contest but nobody thought their fish was big enough to win so they weren’t entered. A lot of fisherpeople are gnashing their teeth and saying “I should have turned in my 4 ounce sunnie!!!”
