MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley likely will sit out against the Clippers on Wednesday to allow his troublesome left ankle more time to rest.
Beasley hasn’t played since Feb. 7 after spraining his left ankle for at least the third time this season. Sitting out the Clippers game, the final one before the All-Star break, would give Beasley an extra five days of rest.
Beasley says the recurring injury has made him more timid on the court. He played for about a month on the ankle before rolling it against the New Orleans Hornets on Feb. 7. He says he’s scared to put pressure on it, but is confident it will improve soon.
Beasley is Minnesota’s second-leading scorer with 19.9 points per game.
