Trees In Batter's Eye Area At Target Field Removed
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins have removed 14 spruce trees from the batter's eye area at Target Field.
During the ballpark's inaugural season, some players complained the black spruce trees behind the centerfield wall affected sight lines while batters were at the plate. The trees would sway in the wind and interfere with the batter's ability to lock in on pitches.
The Twins say two of the 14 trees will be transplanted near the entrance to the parking lot on Twins Way. One tree will be held for an online, public auction benefiting the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. Another tree will be held for a season ticket holder contest and the rest will go to the State Park system.
