Gov. Dayton Welcomes New Puppy To Residence
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- There is a new "First Dog" cuddling into his new home at the governor's residence.
Gov. Mark Dayton introduced his new puppy, Wanamingo, to the media on Sunday afternoon. Dayton said he'll call her Mingo for short.
The governor lost one of his two German Shepherds to cancer in January and decided to get another one.
However, his older dog Mesabi is not too thrilled about it.
"Mesabi is still adjusting to her. Mesabi is ready for her to leave," said Dayton. "Mesabi found her an object of great curiosity and then was like, OK, that's enough, you can leave now. And then she wouldn't go."
Dayton said he is certain the new puppy is a Democrat, sure to fit into the household.
