Volunteer In Ariz. Sweat Lodge Resumes Testimony

CAMP VERDE, Ariz. (AP) -- A hairstylist from California will resume testimony Wednesday in the manslaughter trial of a self-help author.

James Arthur Ray faces more than 30 years in prison if convicted of three counts of manslaughter.

Two women and a man died following a sweat lodge ceremony he led near Sedona in October 2009. Ray has pleaded not guilty.

Jennifer Haley has testified that she received no medical training as a volunteer for Ray's five-day "Spiritual Warrior" event.

She acknowledged under questioning by a defense attorney Tuesday that participants weren't prevented from leaving the ceremony when the heat became too intense.

Prosecutors say Ray recklessly caused the deaths.

Defense attorneys contend the deaths were a tragic accident.
