Customer, 85, Killed At St. Paul Recycling Co.

ST. PAUL (WCCO) — An 85-year-old man was killed when a skid loader crashed into him while he was unloading cans at a St. Paul recycling company.

According to the St. Paul Public Information Officer, the accident happened at Alter Metal Recycling at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was identified as Jack McCoy, of Hastings, Minn. He was unloading cans from the back of his pick-up truck when a worker driving a skid loader backed into him.

McCoy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The worker was not arrested.

Police don’t suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

    This is not an incident that deserves these types of comments. We should all feel bad for both the family of the man who was killed and the employee who hit him accidentally! The rules of looking twice and safety first need to apply, but even then, it does not remove the remorse all involved likely feel.
