MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Vikings believe they're getting close to a final stadium bill to be presented to state lawmakers. Lawmakers are well past the midway point of their session.

"I think (lawmakers) are putting the final touches on it," Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley told Michele Tafoya on WCCO Radio.

One of the key issues that is still unsettled is where the stadium would be built. That's not in the unfinished bill and probably will not be in the finished version.

"We'll allow kind of a process and it will help identify that local partner and a local site," said Bagley.

In other words, they'll create the framework for choosing a location then decide that location later.

One thing is almost guaranteed: The stadium will need a roof.

"We believe that's going to be a requirement in the legislation," Bagley said.

Like Gov. Dayton has said, Bagley believes a roof will make the stadium more attractive to taxpayers since it can be used by the public in more ways than just a handful of home football games per year.
