(WCCO) — Two fatal accidents occurred near the North Shore Friday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The first crash, reported at 7:32 a.m., occurred on Highway 61 and County Road 3, according to the Patrol. The driver’s truck reportedly overturned on an embankment and landed in Lake Superior.

The second crash, which also occurred on Hwy 61, was reported at 10 a.m. The Patrol says a driver lost control, ran off the right side of the road down an embankment and a driver side door area struck a tree.
