Man Sentenced For Fatal Moped Hit-And-Run

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man who killed a moped rider in Edina, Minn. has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

Christian Rogat, 41, pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal vehicular homicide. He will serve 3-and-a-half years in prison for hitting a man on a scooter in September 2010 and then fleeing the scene.

The man who was hit, Robert Kuntze, 53, was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died.

Police said Rogat’s blood alcohol content was 0.165 at the time, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Wow gotta be white…. 3 years only?

  • Mitch

I think it is disgusting that he will only serve 3 years in jail. Why is killing a person while you are drunk not considered murder. He deserved life in prison or to meet the same fate as the poor person he murdered.

    • Larry

@ Mitch, I totally agree! 3 years is a slap in the face to the deceased’s family and friends. And to be twice over the limit while operating a motor vehicle….This guy is 53 years old, and should know better. It’s time we as a society start making examples out of criminals, and not show any leniency. It’s time for this assclown to man up and take responsibility for his actions.

  • weeew

Run him over with a cement truck!!!!

  • fg

im going to deliver a serious beating if i ever meet this guy

    • Angry Sal

Yeah right, from the looks of this guy he would deliver fg the beating of his life! fg would be crying like a baby. Yet he can sound big and bad on a message board…

  • life 4 a life

wow, drunk driver kills somes1 love 1 and only serving 31/2 for it…what kind of justice system is that…so this is saying it’s ok to kill some1 when your wonder there is so many drunk drivers out there…i bet this is not his 1st dwi ….some1 is going to beat his ass in jail….

  • Joe

The person who killed my cousin, who wasn’t white.. (which shouldn’t have anything to do with ANYTHING!) Only received 2 years for taking a 15 year olds life…

  • Pork Chop Guy

Why are mopeds a legal form of transportation?

  • Not Exactly Justice Is It?

I’m with Mitch, this should have been a murder conviction with a “life, no possibility of parole” sentence. Don’t forget, this guy was also drunk while he was driving. If we double the fines for speeding through work zones, why don’t we double the penalty for whatever crimes were committed while driving drunk?

I hope somebody slits this guy’s throat while he’s in prison.

  • Dave Seavy

Now that’s real intelligent. He didn’t get much time (and I agree he should have gotten much more) so now you want someone else to commit a murder. Just when I think I’ve heard it all.
