NCAA Men's Frozen Four - Notre Dame v Minnesota Duluth

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is honoring the NCAA champion University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs men’s hockey team.

Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday as University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs Day in Minnesota.

Dayton says Minnesotans are proud of the team, who worked hard to win the campus’ first national championship.

The Bulldogs defeated the University of Michigan 3-2 in overtime Saturday to win the title. Minnesota native Kyle Schmidt scored the winning goal.

Duluth is scheduled to honor the team Wednesday night at AMSOIL Arena.
