MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Police said four pedestrians were hit by a taxi while they were crossing in a crosswalk in Uptown Friday night.
Officers said it happened at the intersection of Lake St. West and Hennepin Ave.
One of the pedestrians, a 38-year-old woman, was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center for severe injuries. The other three pedestrians weren’t seriously injured and denied medical attention.
One witness, a friend of the woman who is in the hospital, told WCCO-TV that they had the right of way and the walk sign when they were hit.
She says she told police that the cab driver tried to stop when he realized they were in the crosswalk, but it was too late.
The cab driver stopped afterwards, and was obviously shaken from the accident, she said.
Police have not said if there will be charges against the Taxi driver.
Sgt. Bill Palmer said police are investigating and they will release more details about the incident as it becomes available.
