Huge Fire Destroys Lake Elmo Home
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- About 75 firefighters from several different departments battled a large fire at house in Lake Elmo, Minn.
It broke out just before 10:30 p.m. at 5757 Highland Court North, a heavily wooded area.
Firefighters had to bring in tankers of water to put out the fire because there aren't any hydrants nearby.
Lake Elmo Fire Chief Greg Malmquist said flames engulfed the back of the home and that the wind helped spread the fire.
"The fire appeared to have started out in a deck area ... and looks like it may have pushed it up into the siding and up into the side of house," said Malmquist.
A woman who lives in the home was the only one inside. She got out safely and was not injured.
