North Dakota Officials In Mpls. To Fill Jobs
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A job fair is being held in downtown Minneapolis Friday, but it's not for careers in the Twin Cities metro area.
The Experience North Dakota Career Fair aims to find people to fill the nearly 17,000 open positions for our neighbors to the northwest.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple was on The Michele Tafoya Show on WCCO Radio Thursday to talk about the job fair.
"Those who live here see an incredibly safe place to live, they see a place that has great education not only at the K through 12 level but with our colleges, they see great recreation opportunities. Wonderful hunting and fishing and great outdoor recreation," he said.
Dalrymple also said people really like living in North Dakota.
"If they can find a good job up there they find that they live very well because the cost of living is under control," Dalrymple said.
North Dakota has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, and Gov. Dalrymple said it's not just the oil and gas industry in the western portion of the state that has openings. He said there are lots of positions available in eastern North Dakota that stretch across all parts of their economy.
The career fair takes place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Minneapolis on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
