Police Arrest Suspect In Sexual Assault

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – The St. Paul Police Department said it arrested a man Thursday night in connection with a sexual assault that happened Wednesday night.

Authorities said 33-year-old Demetrius Jermaine Miller of St. Paul was arrested without incident just before 7 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1300 block of Sherburne Avenue.

St. Paul Police said they made the arrest based on a citizen tip. A 27-year-old woman told police that she spoke to a man inside a convenience store near Hamline and University Avenues Wednesday night. They continued talking outside the store until they got near an alley.

The woman told police that’s when the man struck her with his fist, then sexually assaulted her. She fought the man before he eventually ran off. She was treated at Regions Hospital and released.

The incident remains under investigation.

Sadly, I doubt he’ll get that, unless he’s a repeat offender. We need to start taking crimes against women and children seriously so we can clean up our communities. Obviously someone messed up teaching him right/wrong. Hopefully we will show him appropriate consequence so he gets it.
