World War II Guns Stolen After Minneapolis Tornado

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Thieves pried open a door and stole two valuable World War II reproduction guns from a north Minneapolis home after Sunday's tornado.

Scott Steben says Thursday that he used the guns, an MP40 German submachine gun and a Colt 45 pistol, in World War II reenactments.

He left the guns at his house Sunday after a weekend of reenactments and went to dinner. He got home after midnight to find them missing, along with other WWII items and his laptop.

Steben estimates the items are worth more than $7,000. The machine gun alone is worth $5,000.

A neighbor told Steben a black van and four men had left his home earlier.

The guns didn't have real bullets in them, but could shoot them.
