Fire Heavily Damages Home In Blaine

BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) – The Memorial Day weekend got off to a rough start for at least one family in Blaine on Friday.

Fire broke out at a home on 129th Avenue Northeast at about 12:30 p.m., causing some major damage.

Authorities are working with the Blaine Fire Department to figure out what started the fire. Authorities said it started on the porch and quickly spread to the attic in the home.

Part of the roof actually collapsed as a result of the fire, forcing crews to evacuate and fight the blaze from the outside. Fire officials were able to put the fire out, and nobody was hurt but the home suffered extensive damage.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
