ROCHESTER (WCCO) — An 18-year-old pregnant woman is in the hospital after a shooting early Tuesday afternoon in Rochester, according to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Chief Deputy Mark Darnell, authorities responded to a call of shots fired at 12:26 p.m. at a residence on the 3300 block of 75th Street NE. When deputies arrived, they found the woman shot in the upper torso.
The victim, who is over 30 weeks pregnant, was taken by helicopter to St. Marys Hospital, Darnell said. She was taken to surgery upon arrival. Her condition is unknown.
One man was taken into custody and the weapon was recovered at the scene.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
