WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) – Chelan County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 21-year-old Minnesota man overdue on a snowshoe hike near Stevens Pass in Washington’s North Cascades.
Lt. Maria Agnew told The Wenatchee World that Ezra Thompson of Paynesville left the Nason Creek trailhead on May 25 and was expected Tuesday at Holden Village where he had a summer job clearing trails.
Officials think Thompson has gear necessary to survive in the wilderness but not a lot of backcountry experience.
There is a heavy snowpack in the area and high avalanche danger due to rain and warming temperatures.
