ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – No felony charges will be filed against a Washington County commissioner arrested last month on suspicion of domestic assault.
The Ramsey County Attorney’s office Monday declined to bring a felony domestic assault by strangulation charge against 41-year-old Bill Pulkrabek.
In a statement, County Attorney John Choi says there is “insufficient evidence” to bring a felony charge against Pulkrabek.
But Choi’s office instead recommended a misdemeanor charge be considered.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Ramsey County Attorney’s office had no jurisdiction in this case to charge a misdemeanor offense unless a felony charge was filed as well. Ramsey County had been asked to take the case to avoid a conflict of interest in Washington County.
A message left Monday night for the Woodbury prosecutor was not immediately returned.
