GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota authorities are searching Swan Lake for a missing Wisconsin man who was last seen several days ago while fishing alone in a canoe.
The Cook County sheriff’s office says 23-year-old Ty D. Sitter of Janesville, Wis., was reported missing early Friday morning, just after midnight.
He was last seen Thursday about 7 p.m. in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. He was camped on the lake with his father and brother, who became concerned when he hadn’t returned by 9 p.m.
They found his canoe upright and unoccupied, with about 4 inches of water in it. His life jacket, tackle box and fishing net were there but his fishing pole was missing.
Authorities launched a search that continued through Saturday.
Swan Lake is about 15 miles northwest of Grand Marais.
