Bachmann Won’t Seek Re-Election To Congress

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann says she’s not running for re-election in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District while she’s campaigning for the Republican nomination for president.

However, state law would allow her to drop out of the presidential race and seek re-election for her current job by June 5, 2012.

That falls well after the key early presidential nominating contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina; but it’s before the Republican National Convention in Florida in August.

A spokeswoman for the Minnesota secretary of state says state law prohibits a major party candidate from running for president and Congress on the same ballot.

She knows she would lose this time.

We’ll get her off the public payroll–at last. I’m waiting to see how she makes a living after the GOP nominate Romney, and she’s out of a job.

  • keel

    She’s counting on the rapture…

  • See ya

I can’t stand to hear the raw truth so good by Bachmann. Please whoever replaces her go ahead and sugarcoat and/or simply lie to us. Thank you.

  • Les Johnson

God is she ugly. I mean wow. It’s distracting.

    • Les Johnson

This isn’t about Democrat women. I’m saying flat-out that Michele Bachmann is the ugliest woman in politics. I’d sooner see Janet Reno scissoring Judge Judy.

      • LOLOL

LOLOL….that one made me laugh for aleast 15 mins. She is hideous!!!!

    • iwould

      Really, I’d tap it

  • Citizen

@Les. The makeup reminds me of Tammy Faye Baker! Someone must have once told her she looked good with it troweled on and she believed it. LOL.

  • game over

if this was chess these two moves would end the game

  • Steve

an upcoming year of Bachmann doing nothing for my 6th District. Status Quo.

    • Reasonable

Well, it’s not like she’s beholden to her district with all that national money coming in for campaign donations…

  • What a fake!

If you look at her real close she’s not attractive at all, she wears a ton of make-up and if she didn’t she would be real ugly, that’s why I can’t believe so many people like her because she’s pretty when really she’s not at all pretty, that’s the only reason she is getting so much attention.

  • Incredulous1

Hooray! Best news I’ve heard in weeks.

She can always go to work preaching for her buddy Rev. Mac Hammond. Then we won’t have to listen to her try to make public policy.

    • Hate her So much

That…and she is a stone cold moron. If Barack is a hand-puppet…this lady would be a marionette. She hasnt had an original, innovative idea since she first exited the womb. All she does is regurgitate the same old, recycled rheotric form campaigns past…it is a JOKE!!!

Yet somehow she got RE-elected. I actually share a planet with people who would vote for her?!?! I hate all of those people so much. Basically if you support Bachman…the order is as follows: #1) Anit-christ #2) Satan worshipers #3) Puppy murderers #4) Bachman supporters

      • Les Johnson

        Bingo. I’m with you.

        • Lori

          Me too

Michele Bachmann is playing both sides. She is getting money and publicity for POTUS knowing she will not get the nomination. And she has until June 2012 to file for her current position. She has a plan to have a win-win situation. She said she is not running for Congress while running for President. But once she is done running for President she can (and probably will) run for Congress again. She will not go away as long as she thinks she is a rock star.

  • Jim

I’m confused. Is she not running for Congress again, period, or is she just not running for Congress while she runs for president? The headline makes it seem like she’s done and will never run for Congress again, but the story makes is sound like she just won’t run for both at the same time.

    • Patrick PatPat Lilja

I’m sure it’s the latter. I think she knows her House seat is hers as long as she wants it, so if things don’t go well in the presidential race it will be easy for her to fall back to her House seat since it’s such a gimme for her.

Thank God!! Now I won’t have to answer the question, “What the heck is wrong with voters in your 6th District?”, anymore!!!

  • BG

This is the first picture I have ever seen of her with her mouth closed!

  • Pavel

    All good!! Keep it up!

  • Murph

Sounds like there will be some partying going on in Stillwater! Good news for Minnesotans.Let’s just hope she and Pawlenty empty their closets and the truth spills out.Either of them in Washington would be too many! Sure the DEMs have a Weiner. But the GOP has the Seven Dwarfs who howl like grandma’s beagle instead of debating! It’s disgusting!

  • Mike

Greatest news EVER!! Thanks for making my day! No way she will ever get the GOP nomination and now we can start an amendment to ban her from the state all together! I can’t stand seeing the “MN” behind her name everytime shes talking about something that is totally wrong!

  • James2

Yes she will. Next June she will pull out of the race and run for the house. She has become so predictable. Yawn!
