TOWN OF EDEN, Wis. (AP) — A farm worker died of traumatic injuries in Fond du Lac County after becoming entangled in an auger.
Sheriff’s deputies say the 49-year-old man from Campbellsport, Wis. was cleaning old feed from a silo at a farm in the Town of Eden Monday afternoon when he lost his balance and fell feet first into the auger. Another worker was able to shut down the auger, but the man’s legs remained entangled in the machine, which was being used to suck and blow feed from the silo.
The Fond du Lac Reporter says rescue personnel worked inside the silo and used the Jaws of Life to free the man, who later died.
