Report: Wolves Will Fire Rambis Thursday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Word is getting out that Kurt Rambis will no longer be the coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves as early as Thursday.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that David Kahn, the team’s president of basketball operations, is expected to relieve Rambis of his coaching duties sometime on Thursday.

The move comes with little surprise. The Timberwolves have been one of the worst teams in the NBA the last two seasons. Rambis went a combined 32-132 over that stretch. The Timberwolve’s record of 17-65 was the NBA’s worst last year.

Kahn officially introduced Ricky Rubio to the media on Tuesday, and Rambis was nowhere to be seen during the news conference. Rambis also wasn’t expected to be around during Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the official move won’t be made until after the draft on Thursday.

Kahn has mishandled this whole situation. What a little weasel. He has got to be the worst GM in the league. I can’t wait to see his asinine picks and for the day HE gets fired! This team is and always has been a GD disaster!

Rambis’ fate was sealed when Kahn squandered the fourth and fifth picks two years ago on point guards who never will contribute significantly, threw a bunch of money at Darko and assembled the current rag-tag team that makes one pine for Kevin McHale. Some teams can win without a quality point guard or center but no one wins without one or the other.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Kahn’s handling of this entire coaching issue since the end of the T’Wolves season has been horrible. I wish Rambis the best in his future has a coach. I wish that Glan Taylor would fire Kahn . . . NOW!
