Weather Blog: Summer In The City

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- "Summer In The City"  was a great song from the Lovin' Spoonful and a good description of our weather over the next few days.

Thursday will be the hot one with temperatures punching up into the 90s for much of the state. The problem is that it won't be a dry heat. Dew points will creep up into the 70s meaning it will be quite sticky around here. There will be a bit of a breeze, but it will be a hot one.

A heat advisory has been issued for much of Minnesota with an excessive heat warning for Hennepin and Ramsey counties. Enjoy the summer heat, but please be careful. Drink plenty of fluids and limit your time in the sun.

This would be a good time to catch a movie or hit the malls. Find the air conditioned places and you will be fine. Remember your pets too. They heat up just like we do.

The warm and sticky air will linger into Friday when a cool front comes swinging through. It will still be warm this weekend, but it will be much less humid. The best chance of rain for the Twin Cities will be on Sunday morning.
