Minn. Girl Killed In Wisconsin Storms Identified

SIREN, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are identifying the 11-year-old girl killed during a fierce thunderstorm in northwestern Wisconsin last week. She was Mackenzie Klar of Hinckley, Minn.

Burnett County Medical Examiner Mike Maloney tells the Duluth News Tribune Klar died when a huge oak tree fell on her as she played at a campground in Spooner.

Maloney says she was running back to a trailer when lightning hit and toppled the tree. He says it took 20 men to remove the tree.

The storm system produced one confirmed tornado near Solon Springs and damaging straight-line winds of up to 100 mph.

The man who died of a heart attack after clearing debris has also been identified. He's 51-year-old Kerry Richter of Webster.
