The Good Life For Less: 5 Tips To Save On Travel (Tip 1)

We’ve talked budget travel many times in this blog, but if you are like me, you’re always looking for new ways to delve into deeper savings.

Mary Song, the founder of the-new-kid-on-the-block travel site,, gives some of her money saving tips to ‘Good Lifers.’ Each day this week, I’ll share one with you.

Tip 1: Late Hotel Check-In

Did you know you can get rewarded for checking in late to some hotels? Me neither. Song said that some hotels, like the Morgan Hotel Group, reward you for checking in after 9:30 p.m. From what I’ve seen this group has hotels in NY, LA, Mexico, San Francisco, London, Boston, and South Beach. They say to call ahead for details.

Other hotels give up your reservation if you check-in too late without letting them know, so make sure to call ahead to see if any late check-in deals apply to your travel plans.

I also found that some hotels are letting you get late check-outs free if you check-in using their social media sites or online apps. Read more details here.

Remember to keep checking back this week to get a new daily travel tip.

If  you know of any off-the-beaten-path trip deals, share them with other ‘Good Lifers’ in the comment section and they may be featured in an upcoming blog. You can also read more money-saving blog posts here and text WCCODEALS to 84816 for a ‘deals of the week’ reminder.
