Wis. Man Dies After Being Hit By Train
FERRYVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- A 29-year-old man is dead after his sports utility vehicle rolled down an embankment and threw him into the path of a train in western Wisconsin.
According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, the Bridgeport man was traveling south on Highway 35 at around 5 a.m. Saturday when his Jeep Grand Cherokee left the road and struck a sign.
The La Crosse Tribune reports the vehicle continued south behind the guardrail, spun around and rolled down the embankment toward the tracks. The driver was ejected and landed on the tracks where he was struck by a westbound train.
His passenger, a 23-year-old Wauzeka man, was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver's name has not been released.
