Curiocity: A Much-Improved Taste Of The TCO

It's been nearly three days and I think I've finally fully digested the smorgasbord that was the Taste of the Twin Cities Originals.

The annual event took place on Thursday at the TCF Bank Stadium and featured some of the best food from local restaurants -- not to mention was a complete 180 from last year's event.

For those of you that fought the crowd at what I'll call the "Groupon Debacle of 2010," I can guarantee you wouldn't have known this year's event was under the same banner.

Vast improvements were made to ensure what happened last year at International Market Square stayed at International Market Square. Namely, no Groupon deal, hence, a controlled crowd.

The venue, inside the gorgeous concourse of the TCF Bank Stadium, gave food vendors from all over the Metro plenty of room to set up shop. And more importantly, the crowd had ample room to enjoy the festivities -- no eye gouging, no close encounters of the foodie kind.

It was a great event, with plenty of delicious food, great wine and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. A band help keep things light and entertaining, while cocktail tables allowed the perfect place to stop and feast.

Above all, it was a wonderful introduction to nearly 20 restaurants in the Twin Cities -- several that I hadn't heard of before.

For a complete list of the restaurants involved and the food they served, check out the gallery below.
