WASHBURN, Wis. (AP) — The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office says a 31-year-old has been killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash on Valhalla Trail in northwestern Wisconsin.
The Duluth News Tribune reports it happened about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The victim sustained severe head injuries and could not be revived by first responders.
The name of the deceased ATV driver was not immediately released.
A passenger on the victim’s ATV was also injured and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Ashland with non-life-threatening injuries.
A report from the sheriff’s office says speed, alcohol and the lack of a helmet may have contributed to the death of the ATV driver.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
