Jordan Elementary Battles Mold Before School Starts

JORDAN, Minn. (WCCO) -- Crews are working hard at Jordan Elementary School to clean up a mold problem before the start of the school year.

School administrators said a damp summer and a malfunctioning cooling unit caused mold to grow in the building.

They said the district is working with Institute of Environmental Assessment and their insurance company to make sure the building is safe for students and staff to return to school in September.

The district said that they ran tests on the air and carpet samples last week. They said they'll know how long it will take to clean up once they get the results.

It's not clear if school will start on time, but the district has moved all programming out of the building until they get the OK.
