Man Hits, Kills Another Motorist In Stolen Police Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A driver is dead after police say a man stole a police car, fled the scene and hit another motorist.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Polk County. Police say the man, identified as 23-year-old Ricardo Mello, had a confrontation with a Crookston police officer and stole the officer’s police squad.

He then fled the scene, heading south on Main Avenue, lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Main and Old Highway 75 South and hit a Chevy pick-up truck.

The driver was killed and a female passenger was taken to Riverview Hospital, where she remains hospitalized.

Both vehicles were totaled.

Crookston Police are investigating the incident. The victims identities have not been released.

      Where did it say he was illegal in the story? I have some news for your thick skull. Not everyone legally living in the country has a last name of Johnson or Anderson.
