Man Dies Nearly 50 Years After Being Shot

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 61-year-old Eagan man who was shot nearly 50 years ago in Nebraska died on Aug. 27 as a result of medical complications from the incident, authorities said.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office ruled the death a homicide on Tuesday.

Vance Edward Skahen III was shot in Nebraska in 1963 or 1964 when he would've been about 14 years old, according to the medical examiner.

He died last week at the University of Minnesota Medical Center from medical complications as a result of the shooting.

No arrests have been made in the murder and the case remains under investigation.
