ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has been nominated for a high-ranking position in the Democratic National Committee.

Rybak spokesman John Stiles said Wednesday that DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz nominated the three-term mayor as one of five vice chairmen. Wasserman Schultz heads the organization for national Democrats.

The nominations will be voted on at a DNC meeting in Chicago on Saturday. Stiles says Rybak will attend.

Rybak was an early supporter of President Barack Obama before the 2008 election.
