MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — At least 50 cows were killed in a barn fire in Spring Hill Township, Minn. early Friday morning.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to 28714 363rd Ave. around 2 a.m. When they arrived, the large barn was fully engulfed in flames.

The barn was housing 75 dairy cows, but only 20-25 cows were able to escape unharmed.

Several fire departments were called in to help put out the fire, but the barn was a total loss.

It is not known yet how the fire started or what the exact cost of the damage to the farm and loss of cows will be.

The sheriff did say that it will be more than $100,000.
