Driver Hit, Killed Trying To Beat Train

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 44-year-old man is dead after authorities say he was hit and killed after attempting to drive around a train.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Department received a report early Sunday morning of a car-train accident on the 180th Avenue crossing, west of Audubon.

Police say the driver, Eric Dean Grina, of Audubon, was the only occupant in the vehicle. Officials say it appeared that Grina attempted to drive around the lowered crossing arm, as an eastbound train was approaching the intersection.

The train hit the vehicle, sending it into the south ditch between Highway 10 and the railroad tracks. Grina was pronounced dead at the scene.

Darwin’s theory wins again! Full size car weighs maybe 4000lbs and a single locomotive weighs 400,000lbs. It’s not difficult to figure out the outcome here. Be smart people! Have some respect for the size and danger of trains!

What was he thinking? Was he driving a 160hp engine trying to floor it?

When will people learn that the train ALWAYS WINS?
