Unconscious Man Rescued From Burning Bedroom

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Firefighters rescued a man from his burning bedroom Tuesday night in St. Paul.

Crews were called to 2106 Dayton Ave. around 6:17 p.m. when a neighbor saw smoke coming from a bedroom window.

According to Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard, the neighbor ran over to the partially open window to investigate. He yelled into the room and the man who lived there said he was trapped.

When firefighters arrived, they rushed into the house and pulled out the man who was unconscious but breathing.

He was brought to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

Zaccard said the man's name and condition aren't known at the time, but records show the homeowner is Shane Klein.

Crews said the fire started in a pile of clothing in the bedroom, but the cause remains under investigation.

The fire was confined to the bedroom, but damage is estimated to be at $15,000.

Smoke detectors were working, but there were no fire sprinklers.
