ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota National Guard says 12 soldiers who have been serving in Afghanistan for the past year are scheduled to return to the state.

The soldiers are expected to arrive at the St. Paul Armory on Saturday about 11:30 p.m.

Army Maj. Shane L. Mortenson is the officer in charge of the team. He says the group had partnered with Croatian soldiers to train, mentor and advise Afghan soldiers.

Army Capt. Paul T. Harper is a member of the team. He says the best mission of the tour was their work to provide supplies to Afghani schools.
