Around this time in October, we’re surrounded by beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow as the trees shed their lively green and transition into hibernation for the winter. Fall apple picking winds down and visits to the pumpkin patch speed up and if you time it just right, you can hit both apples and pumpkins at the same time.
As you crunch through the leaves to pick out the perfect pumpkin for carving, grab a small pie pumpkin too. It is sweet and delicious in Curried Pumpkin and Wild Rice Soup, Homemade Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, or as a side dish. I also found this cool recipe from Oprah for Pumpkin Fries.
