Hastings Police Look For Suspects In Pool Vandalism

HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) — Police in Hastings are offering a reward for information on who vandalized the city’s aquatic center.

According to police, the vandalism happened sometime between late night Oct. 5 and early morning Oct. 6 at the Hastings Aquatic Center.

Extensive damage was done to the pool equipment and poolside building, according to police.

Hastings Police are investigating whether this vandalism was connected to a recent break-in at Pinecrest Elementary School where the suspect(s) entered the school by breaking a window and taking two fire extinguishers that were later found.

“These crimes victimize the entire community; and we are committed to finding those responsible so they can be held accountable for their actions, including payment of restitution,” said Hastings Police Chief Paul Schnell.

Anyone with information is asked to call 651-322-2323 and ask to speak with a Hastings police officer or send the information by email to HPD@ci.hastings.mn.us.

Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
