WOODBURY, Minn. (WCCO) — Each week, WCCO This Morning is rewarding a hard-working, dedicated parent who loves what they do.

Angela Davis went to Woodbury to surprise this week’s winner, who is balancing the life of fatherhood with the schedule of a student.

Tim Meyer was nominated by his wife, who said she is blown away by how well he’s adjusted to taking care of their newborn.

Meyer is a college student who takes classes online by day, and works full-time at night for UPS. But he’s also a proud father around the clock to his little girl Luciana.

When asked what his favorite part about being a father is, Meyer joked, “The cute outfits.” He added, “The reciprocal interaction I get from her is great, too. That’s what I look forward to now, coming up here pretty soon — the talking, the walking around, the playing.”

Meyer’s wife Leticia Meyer said he’s a big help with all the chores at home.

“And he helps with washing cloth diapers, which is a big deal. Most fathers don’t help with washing those,” she said.

Tim Meyer does it all with a calm, mellow smile.

The Meyers are getting a much needed date night. Tim won two tickets to a Minnesota Wild game.

Each week, we select a new Just 4 You Parent, so keep those entries coming. If you know a busy parent, grandparent or guardian who goes above and beyond, nominate them by filling out this nomination form.

I did this for years as many other men and women have and do, I never got any recognition except maybe from my mom.

  2. It definitely leaves an inpact! My dad was working on his Ph.D. was I was a kid and I always thought it was the coolest thing ever that me and my dad both went to school at the start of the day.

This is what its all about.

Do women really not have faith in men? His own wife is shocked that he takes care of his daughter? Really? So I guess that means she got pregnant thinking he wouldn’t help out? I think this is a good idea to have a recognition for working parents but when his own wife is surprised that he can be a parent it makes him look stupid. Which obviously he is not.

    1. I’m confident that you’re completely missing the point. His wife is just saying that he’s doing a lot, not that she didn’t expect him to do a lot. Men are often held to different standards and having a guy who is willing to clean diapers is the exception, not the rule.

He is an amazing dad. Not that I ever doubted that. With the amount of responsiblity that he has taken on, anyone would strugle. He just blows me out of the water with what a great job he is doing.
