Gophers Start Season With 'All-Star Friday Night'
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota men's basketball team will start the new season with a full slate of skills competition and an intrasquad scrimmage.
Rodney Williams will defend his dunk contest title at Williams Arena for "Gopher All-Star Friday night," a takeoff on the NBA's annual version of the event. There will also be an all-around skills competition and a 3-point shooting contest featuring current players and former Gophers. The kickoff used to be known as "Midnight Madness" and "Tubby's Tip-off."
There will also be an autograph session in the concourse featuring current and former players.
The first regular season game for the Gophers is Nov. 11 against Bucknell.
