Frank Vascellaro and his mother Rosalie head to the kitchen to cook up some split pea soup. Check out the recipe below.
1-one pound package split peas
1-pound cubed ham (optional)
1/2 cup minced carrots
1/2 white onion minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Boil the split peas in enough water to completely cover the peas. Bring the peas to a boil and then simmer. Remove any white scum on top of water with a spoon.
Add the carrots, onion, ham, salt, pepper, bay leaf, and garlic powder.
Cook on medium heat about 2 hours, stirring occasionally. It’s simple. Enjoy.
