U Of M Homecoming Parade, Pep Fest, Set For Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Don’t be surprised to see even more maroon and gold around Minneapolis. It’s homecoming week at the University of Minnesota and the 2011 Homecoming Parade is Friday night.

The parade will start at 7 p.m. and go along University Avenue in front of the Greek houses decorated with maroon and gold pomp.

The grand marshal of the parade is football Coach Jerry Kill. He’ll be represented in the parade by his family, but he’s scheduled to address the crowd at the pep fest following the parade in TCF Bank Stadium.

The pep fest will also feature a performance by local rappers Atmosphere. Tickets are available at mygophersports.com.

Homecoming celebrations at the flagship campus of the University of Minnesota date back to 1914.

On the noon news, you just showed the Edina High School Homecoming parade instead of the U of M, as was discussed. Please try for a little accuracy. It’s a little hard to mistake the Edina green and what uniforms — not to mention the EDINA embroidered on the backs.
